Meet Marcus, Copy his style, Listen to his wisdom... WHO:
Marcus is a licensed barber with impeccable taste and co-owner of the The Gentlemen’s Cutlery. A Barbershop in Midtown Sacramento, California. As an entrepreneur, he has a passion for service and for making his clients feel like the best version of themselves. But even more importantly, he is a husband, full-time minister and lover of sports & working out. GOAL: Marcus wanted to build lean muscle mass, get cut, and stay healthy so that he can travel with his wife, play sports, and enjoy his life to the fullest. ROADBLOCK: Consistency and a previous shoulder injury. Marcus is a very busy goal oriented man. So he would workout for a purpose. An event, a vacation etc. So long term consistency was needed. Also, Marcus had rotator cuff surgery 10 years ago. Shoulder discomfort and weakness was an issue, especially since as a Barber, he uses his shoulders a lot. WHAT DID DHS DO TO HELP? Being a Barber is very demanding physically. Especially on the shoulders. So we made it a point to help stabilize and strengthen this previously injured joint with a lot of focused rear delt and back work. We literally had his back! In order to help Marcus stay consistent we not only gave him support and motivation but we tailored his workouts to his changing circumstances & changing equipment availability. When times were busy or stress was high we made workouts that were shorter but still effective. When it was time for vacation we made sure to give him and his wife a workout that they could still do and not break their exercise habit. When he wanted to bulk up safely we increased the intensity. QUOTE: “Working out/exercising is so much more about the journey than the destination. On a journey, sometimes we have to take a detour or maybe even hit the brakes for a while...but the important part is that we never stop moving forward. With DHS, I feel like they first focus on my overall well-being. Then, they give me routines within those parameters to help me reach my goals. As someone who has suffered a serious sports-related injury in the past, this means A LOT."
