Cure Jet Lag - A Sleep Hack

Even if you are not a professional athlete there is a lot you can learn from them. Especially when it comes to getting over jet lag quickly so that you can perform at your best, or at least enjoy your vacation a little more. 
Athletes do a lot of traveling. They are constantly flying and changing time zones in order to take part in away games or competitions. When they land they do not always have the luxury to take their time and adjust to time changes. They have to be ready to perform at their very best and win! Here are few practical things you can do to win the game of life against team jet lag:
 
 
  • Sleep with your head facing North in the Northern Hemisphere and South in the Southern Hemisphere. Studies with infants have shown that instinctively babies, no matter how they and initially placed in their crib, will sleep with their heads facing the correct magnetic pole. 

  • Drink plenty of water when you land. Dehydration is a real issue when flying. Its important that you take in a lot of water in between flights and as soon as you land in your final destination.

  • Get sunlight in the morning. Once you are at your destination get at least 30 minutes of early morning sunlight. This will help reboot your circadian rhythm so you adjust to the new time zone.
