What Is your favorite Sport? As trainers we get asked this question all the time, especially from athletes that we train. The answer may surprise you. The reason may inspire you...
At Dark Horse Sports our favorite sport is Polo. This usually surprises people. Obviously we love horses, and horses are a big part of the game. But there is more to it…
Polo is an amazing sport. It is aptly dubbed “The Sport Of Kings”. It is certainly regal in history and class. The fans are usually very elegantly dressed. The players have a handicap. Handicap? Huh? What does that mean?
Every player is assigned a handicap. A value of how good of a player they are. The better the player the greater the handicap. If a Team Blue has a combined handicap of 8 and Team Red has a combined handicap of 6, then the game starts with a score of 2-0 in favor of Team Red.
This means that the best players and best teams start with a deficit. And you know that’s life. We all start with a deficit. We all start with a handicap. Some more some less. The people that succeed, the people that win, the people that work the hardest usually have the biggest handicap. Every Dark Horse has a handicap.
What’s your handicap? What prevents you from succeeding in your life and fitness goals?
Busy schedule? Past injury? Not coordinated? Don’t know what to do? Or maybe its something deeper… Lack of self worth? Lack of self discipline?
Here is another reason why Polo is our favorite sport. It’s a team sport. You know those numbers on the polo players’ jerseys? Each number means something. For example the number 4 player is the main defensive player. The rest of the team can confidently strike ahead because they know that number 4 has their back. They don’t have to worry.
Each player has a handicap, each team has a handicap. But they are not alone. They are a team.
This time of year just about everyone evaluates their life and wants to improve it somehow. People especially want to set and reach new fitness goals. At Dark Horse Sports we want to help you do just that.
We know you want to be healthier, feel happier, and look hotter. You may have a handicap. But that’s a good thing. That “handicap” can be the very thing that gives you the reason and drive to succeed. To be that Dark Horse. You are not alone. You have a team. Let Dark Horse Sports be your number 4. We have your back. We can give you what you need to feel confident and strike ahead at your new year goals.
